SPS Stone Group has – and always will be – a natural stone company. While we proudly offer our NOVAS Quartz brand, we are still experts in natural stone. We offer a vast selection of cut-to-size natural stone from around the world.
WE OFFER MANY TYPES OF NATURAL STONE:
Basalt
A dark, fine-grained igneous rock. It is known for its ability to withstand very high temperatures, strength and durability.
Dolomite
A sedimentary carbonate rock, also referred to as magnesium limestone, generally found in white and gray hues, it is more durable than marble but softer than granite.
Granite
An igneous rock, arguably the best-known and most widely used countertop material. It is easy to clean, can stand up to high temperatures however it is porous and can stain and hold bacteria. It is durable, but also very heavy and varies in color from slab to slab.
Limestone
A hard, sedimentary rock, composed mainly of calcium carbonate or dolomite, widely used in the construction industry as a basic building block.
Marble
A metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate materials, it is a timeless and classis stone. It is porous and fairly soft, but balances out its downsides in unmatched beauty.
Quartzite
A hard non-foliated metamorphic rock that originated as sandstone. Through high heat and pressurization, quartz pieces recrystallize to give it a beautiful, sparkling pattern. It is very strong and durable.
Slate
A fine-grained metamorphic rock frequently grey in color, but can also be green, purple, or cyan. It has an extremely low water absorption index. It is also beautiful and durable.
Why Natural Stone?
We love our NOVAS Quartz engineered quartz, but it’s different than natural stone. Since NOVAS Quartz is a man-made product, it contains coloring and epoxy binders. Due to this, it cannot be exposed to the elements. Natural stone is the preferred material for exterior applications, and we have over thirty years of experience working with natural stone of all kinds and its suitable applications.
As with our NOVAS Quartz line, we specialize in natural stone for commercial projects. We understand the properties of various natural and dimensional stone types for a building’s stone facade, granite floor, or architectural decorative pieces. We can educate you on what natural stones are best suited for what application, and then guide you through the process from procurement to installation.
